Walking Slowly
By Aila Al Idrus
walking slowly
when you are supposed to get there fast
what are you pretending to hide?
what are you trying to avoid?
you beg your two feet to walk backward
while another you push you to go on
but you're walking too slow
not to enjoy the journey
but to delay your future
torturing yourself with a slow pain of fear
you have power to choose not to go
but guilt weakens you
you have power to think positive about tomorrow
but you don't want to believe in you
so, slowly walking, painfully
not to relish the present
only to shudder at the destination
